Shota Rustaveli Institute
of Georgian Literature represents the research centre dedicated to Georgian
literature and problems associated with the study of literature. The purpose
of the institute is carrying out fundamental and applied research pertaining to
Georgian literature as well as literature theory and folklore, and supporting
the implementation of products of its study into practice. Also, conduct
textological research (including digital), and prepare and implement academic
editions of Georgian classics. One of the main functions of the institute is
the implementation of scientific projects - fundamental, applied, conference,
etc. - in accordance with modern standards of philological research.
Implementation that allows the Georgian philological school to integrate into
the humanitarian and philological processes of the world. One of the most
important links in the scientific activity of the Institute of Literature since
its foundation has been publishing activity, which is carried out in several
areas: edition of scientific collections and journals, monographs; preparation
and publication of academic multi-volume Georgian classics; preparation and
publication of auxiliary manuals for higher educational institutions (which is
one of the main conditions for the integration of the institute into the
educational space); Implementation of international publishing projects
(monographs, collections, conference proceedings, etc.). The Institute of
Literature pays great attention to international relations: close cooperation
with similar academic centers in the West, deepening and development of
communications, development of joint projects. The Shota Rustaeli Institute
of Georgian Literature is a scientific center of a modern type, in which
scientists of different generations work, and the process of generational change
proceeds smoothly and harmoniously.
